Causes We Support
The evidence is overwhelming: climate change is an imminent threat, our food systems are increasingly stressed, and our lands, waters, and species are threatened like never before. If we don’t act now, the viability of our planet and our quality of life – to say nothing of the health of our businesses – face an existential threat.
As Costa Rica’s first member of One Percent for the Planet, Café Milagro donates 1% of all coffee sales to the environment. Fast Company magazine considers 1% of sales “the gold standard for corporate philanthropy” – so with the simple act of enjoying a moment with us, you’re helping make Costa Rica a better place to live, work, vacation and swing from tree to tree!
Titi Conservation Alliance
We founded Titi Conservation Alliance along with other responsible area business owners to protect what we all love about Manuel Antonio. With Adrienne as its president, this non-profit organization works to save the endangered Titi Monkey from extinction through reforestation of the Naranjo River Biological Corridor and environmental education in area schools.
The mono tití, or the grey crowned red-backed squirrel monkey (Saimiri oerstedii citrinellus), is the smallest primate in Costa Rica. This subspecies is only found in and around Quepos/Manuel Antonio National Park on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. They have been listed as Critically Endangered by IUCN Red List since 1996; and endangered in 2008.
